The Gates of Rome

The Gates of Rome - Conn Iggulden My knowledge of Julius Caesar is limited to what they teach you in high school. Based on the high school I went to, I'm going to guess even that knowledge is very limited and potentially inaccurate. Maybe it was my limited knowledge that made me feel rather "meh" about this novel. If I didn't know this book was about Julius Caesar going into reading, I might have guessed it was about any boy and his childhood friend in Ancient Rome. The story was fine. The characters were fine. Overall everything was fine. I didn't think there was anything special about this book. I might check out the next novel in the series if I come across it someday but I'm not going to rush out and get it.
